The Villas are nestled adjacent to a pond and the University Village nature trail which is tended and groomed by local residents. Villa residents listen to the birds sing as they enjoy a quiet morning walk or a relaxing evening stroll after dinner.

Though in no rush, Don and Penny Butz had begun their due diligence and online research for their next retirement move. Don retired from his professional career in 1995 and enjoyed the Lakeland Golf courses while Penny continued working full then part-time as an operating room nurse. Don’s brother Bob and his wife, Jo, decided it was time for them to move from their Lakeland home and enjoy community living. Penny happily supplied Bob and Jo with her packet of information about University Village.

Both couples visited University Village and Bob and Jo decided the Villas were exactly what they were looking for and signed papers to move as soon as their house sold. Don and Penny thought they would move in three to five years when an unexpected opportunity emerged. Someone admired their home and made an offer that was too good to pass up!

Before they knew it Don and Penny were back at University Village and also signing papers to move into the Villas. They moved immediately and Bob and Jo followed several months later. Once again the brothers live on the same street two homes from each other.

These couples opened the door and wonderful opportunities have unfolded. Jo remarked that friends and family have noticed how happy they are, how much they share about their interesting courses, trips, and activities. Both Bob and Jo are more active physically and socially and attribute it all to the Masterpiece Living opportunities.

Equally active Don and Penny chuckle as they mentioned, “We still go on our travel vacations, although life here feels like we are always on vacation.” Don and Penny are active in numerous artistic endeavors including Don’s woodworking, and Penny’s knitting and quilting. Both are also active in several Resident Board Committees.
